Joanne Baek is a Penn bioengineering student studying the expansion of human hematopoietic stem cells using BCL2 mutants.

Joanne graduated with a B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from JohnsHopkins University, where she investigated the effects of tissue stiffness on breast cancermetastasis and ageing. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Bioengineering under Dr. SaarGill at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on gene editing ofhematopoietic stem cells to develop a platform for in vivo enrichment of donor HSPCs.
